Laboris Catrame was founded in Castel Campagnano, a village located on a small plateau a few kilometers from the Royal Palace of Caserta, nestled in a unique landscape, surrounded by the Matese Massif and Mount Taburno, which separate Alta Campania from Molise and Sannio Beneventano. This patch of land, set between Vesuvius to the southeast and the Roccamonfina volcano to the northwest, places us in the middle of a vast natural amphitheater: the heart of the ancient Terra Laboris, once known as Campania Felix.

The Power of Nature: Rivers and Soils
Our territory draws its richness from biodiversity and the interaction with Campania's most important waterways, such as the Volturno river and the Calore Irpino, which merge at the foot of our plateau before converging towards the sea. The soils on which our vines grow are of volcanic and alluvial origin, characterized by a rhythmic alternation of tuff banks, sandy soils, clastic rocks, sandstones, and clay. This unique combination of elements creates the ideal conditions for cultivating indigenous grape varieties of the highest quality.

Grape Varieties of Excellence
Among our black grape varieties, Casavecchia stands out, a grape variety with mysterious origins and great historical value. According to chronicles, thanks to Pliny the Elder, this grape variety dates back to ancient Rome where it was known as Trebulanum. After being rediscovered near an old ruin, which inspired its name, Casavecchia revealed its exceptional nature, producing light and delicate bunches, with a low yield but of very high quality.

Similarly, among the white grape varieties, we have chosen Pallagrello Bianco, another indigenous variety of Alta Campania. This grape variety, favored by King Ferdinand IV of Bourbon, is known for its elegance and exclusivity. Its small spherical berries express their best on our clay-limestone soils, giving rise to wines with a bold and refined personality.

Ancient Vineyards and Innovation
Our ancient vineyards, such as Vigneto Volturno and Vigneto Ventaglio, represent our history and our commitment to sustainability. Vigneto Volturno, with its northeast exposure, is nourished by the waters of the Volturno river and extends for about 2 hectares, producing grapes that reflect the authenticity of the territory. Vigneto Ventaglio, on the other hand, owes its particular shape and its Guyot training system to the Bourbon tradition, with vines that draw strength from a soil composed of silt, calcareous white sand, sandstone, and clastic stones.

A Philosophy of Sustainability
Laboris Catrame is based on values of sustainability, balance, and respect for the territory. Every day, through science, technique, and passion, we strive to shape the future of viticulture, without ever forgetting our roots. Our goal is to rediscover the past through an ethical and respectful approach to nature, transforming our grapes into wines that express the uniqueness of our land.

A Story to Savor in Every Glass
Our story is told with great passion, through constant research and love for the raw material. Every glass of our wines contains not only the flavor of the territory, but also the dedication and care we put into every phase of the production process. Laboris Catrame renews itself every day, suspended between past and future, in a continuous dialogue between tradition and innovation.
